Three Mages and a Margarita
Annette Marie
(The Guild Codex: Spellbound #1)
Publication date: September 14th 2018
Genres: New Adult, Urban Fantasy
Broke, almost homeless, and recently fired. Those are my official reasons for answering a wanted ad for a skeevy-looking bartender gig.
It went downhill the moment they asked me to do a trial shift instead of an interview—to see if I’d mesh with their “special” clientele. I think that part went great. Their customers were complete dickheads, and I was an asshole right back. That’s the definition of fitting in, right?
I expected to get thrown out on my ass. Instead, they…offered me the job?
It turns out this place isn’t a bar. It’s aguild. And the three cocky guys I drenched with a margarita during my trial? Yeah, they were mages. Either I’m exactly the kind of takes-no-shit bartender this guild needs, or there’s a good reason no one else wants to work here.
So what’s a broke girl to do? Take the job, of course—with a pay raise.

Note: The three mages are definitely sexy, but this series isn’t a reverse harem. It’s 100% fun, sassy, fast-paced urban fantasy.

Top Ten Books on Annette's TBR List

1. Dare You to Lie by Amber Lynn Natusch – A fast-paced YA mystery about a spunky teen trying to clear her father’s name—no matter what skeletons she digs up in the process.

2. Witch’s Reign by Shannon Mayer – Witches, dragons, shapeshifters. Did I mention dragons? This looks like a hilarious read and I can’t wait to start it.

3. The Royal Trials: Imposter by Tate James – I love anything with royalty—especially three princes. And the main character sounds like she’s full of spunk!

4. The Princess Must Die by Jaymin Eve and Everly Frost – As mentioned, I love royalty. This one has a princess that will be fighting for her life and it looks epic.

5. How to Save an Undead Life by Hailey Edwards – Every time I see this series, I love the titles even more. With an ex-necromancer for a heroine, I have to know more.

6. The Nine by C.M. Stunich and Tate James – Ms. James appears on my list a second time, and this time because I adore the cover for this book and I love Japanese mythology even more.

7. Fantasy of Frost by Kelly St. Clare – The title, description, and beautiful cover for this YA fantasy are so mysterious. It’s been on my list for a while—I really need to pick it up soon.

8. The Alchemists of Loom by Elise Kova – I’ll let the book description speak for me: “What does an engineer with a dangerous past, a Dragon prince, and a trigger-happy gunmage have in common? One dangerous mission to assassinate a king.”

9. Pestilence by Laura Thalassa – I’ve heard nothing but praise for this series, and the cover is beautiful and alluring. Definitely on my list.

10. 99 Percent Mine by Sally Thorn – For something different, a contemporary romance. The author’s The Hating Game was hugely entertaining, and I’m eagerly waiting for this one.

Annette Marie is the author of Amazon best-selling YA urban fantasy series Steel & Stone, its prequel trilogy Spell Weaver, and romantic fantasy trilogy Red Winter. Her first love is fantasy, but fast-paced adventures and tantalizing forbidden romances are her guilty pleasures. She lives in the frozen winter wasteland of Alberta, Canada (okay, it's not quite that bad) with her husband and their furry minion of darkness—sorry, cat—Caesar. When not writing, she can be found elbow-deep in one art project or another while blissfully ignoring all adult responsibilities.
