A Little Bit of a Q&A
If you die today, how would you want the world to remember you?
Just as the simple person I am: a creative, independent person with a little bit of wit. And an animal lover, of course. I’m not happy without my critters.
Do you believe you have done enough to leave a legacy behind?
My stories will be my legacy, and that makes me pretty happy.
Any particular writer in mind whom you would want to complete your unfinished works in the event of your death?
I’m sure other writers have plenty to handle with their own works, they don’t need to take on the craziness of mine.
Which writer’s work do you believe most resembles your work?
Every writer has their own unique style, so it’s difficult to draw comparisons. My own style has changed over the years, and I’m sure it’ll continue to.
Has it ever happened to you that someone published your story in their own name?
Not that I’m aware of, but I suppose it’s possible.
Do you pen down revelations and ideas as you get them, right then and there?
Sometimes. It depends where I am at the time. A lot of my ideas come when I’m driving or in the shower, so usually I’ll just talk things out to myself until I can get somewhere to write them down.
Although all books say that all the characters in the book aren’t real or related, but are they really all fictional and made up?
I think all writers draw on people in their own lives as inspiration for characters, at least in part. They can be small details or little quirks that inspire a character that’s completely different from the source. I tend to put a lot of myself into many of my characters, main and minor. Others I’ll base off characters from movies and books. It all depends what I’m going for.
What other genres do you enjoy reading?
I’m a sucker for romance novels. They’re very character driven, and most of them have a lot of humor. Plus there’s the hot guys, so you know…perks!
Have you ever destroyed any of your drafts?
Not entire drafts, but definitely scenes that I can’t reuse somewhere else in a story. Otherwise I try to recycle as much as I can. Sometimes old words can inspire new scenes.
Have you ever written a story you wish you hadn’t?
Every story I’ve written has been vital in the development of my craft. Without them, my writing wouldn’t be what it is today. No regrets.
I'm super excited to talk with readers and answer any questions you might have. My debut, Successor, is scheduled to release on 10/24/18, and I can't wait to share it with all of you! A little about me. I love reading, especially romance. I'm one of those people who needs a least a little bit of romance in a story for it to really catch my attention. I also love YA, and probably have more favorite authors in the genre than in romance. When I'm not writing or reading, I'm usually watching movies--I have probably 800+ in my collection by now. I've recently gotten into painting, which I'm quickly falling in love with. I tend to be a bit crafty, so if I'm doing a giveaway, chances some of my handmade items will be included! I'm almost always listening to music, and my tastes are pretty eclectic. I also have 3 cats, which Successor is actually dedicated to! That's enough about me for now. I'd love to hear from you! I can also be found on twitter and on my website. Website | Twitter | Goodreads |
3 Winners will receive a finished copy of SUCCESSOR and handmade swag from Rae, US Only.
